NRO Joins NASA, Space Command in Partnership Agreement
21 December 1998
The National Reconnaissance Office joined Air Force Space Command and
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as a full member of the
Partnership Council established in February 1997. The Partnership Council actively
seeks ways to save money, reduce risks, and integrate planning efforts in
areas of mutual interest.
Mr. Keith Hall, Director of the NRO, signed the agreement in Washington D.C.
Nov. 23 with fellow council members Daniel Goldin, NASA Administrator, and
General Richard Myers, Commander of Air Force Space Command. At the meeting they
reviewed the status of their collaborative efforts and explored opportunities to
implement the nation's space program effectively and efficiently.
Partnership Council initiatives are already beginning to bear fruit. The agencies have
already pledged support to collaborate on issues such as launch range modernization;
launch infrastructure and support activities; preparation for space activity such as
this year's Leonid Meteor Shower; and space technology cooperation.
