NRO Seeks Nominations for Pioneer Honorees

March 8, 2000

The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) announced a program to recognize and honor the pioneers who made significant and lasting contributions to the discipline of national reconnaissance as part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations.

Mr. Keith Hall, NRO Director, will select 40 national reconnaissance pioneers based on recommendations from a special selection board. The pioneers will be recognized in a ceremony Sept. 27 at NRO headquarters where plaques will be permanently displayed in their honor. One or more individuals will be selected annually to be inducted into the pioneer program.

Anyone may nominate an individual to be a candidate for selection, but nominations are due to the NRO by April 14. Nominees may be living or deceased and may include anyone except former NRO directors, deputy directors and program managers as they have already been honored by the organization. Pioneers will be chosen based on the significance and lasting effect of their contributions to national reconnaissance.

Nominations must be no longer than one page, single-spaced and should identify the contribution for which the individual is being nominated. Nominations should be mailed to:
