The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) is seeking nominations for the 2001 class of NRO Pioneers. One to three people will be recognized by the organization as pioneers who made significant and lasting contributions to the discipline of national reconnaissance.
Forty-six pioneers were selected in the inaugural class this year by Mr. Keith Hall, NRO Director, based on recommendations from a special selection board. Those pioneers were recognized in a ceremony Sept. 27 at NRO headquarters where plaques were permanently displayed in their honor.
Anyone may nominate an individual to be a candidate for selection, but nominations are due to the NRO by December 31. Nominees may be living or deceased and may include anyone except former NRO directors, deputy directors and program managers as they have already been honored by the organization. Pioneers will be chosen based on the significance and lasting effect of their contributions to national reconnaissance.
Nominations must be no longer than one page, single-spaced and should identify the contribution for which the individual is being nominated. Nominations should be mailed to:
