A National Reconnaissance Office payload was successfully launched aboard an Atlas IIAS rocket from Cape Canaveral AFS, Fla. Oct. 10 at 10:31 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. It was the third successful launch in 33 days for the NRO and the second within five days.

"This launch was the culmination of a truly outstanding effort by the entire NRO launch team," said Col. Stephen Wojcicki, director of the NRO's Office of Space Launch and mission director for all three launches.

The Atlas IIAS was launched from Cape Canaveral's Launch Complex 36. The other two launches were Sept. 8 and Oct. 5 from Vandenberg AFB, Calif.
