NRO Seeks Nominations for 2002 Pioneer Honorees

2 November 2001

The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) is seeking nominations for the 2002 class of NRO Pioneers. One to three people will be recognized by the organization as pioneers who made significant and lasting contributions to the discipline of national reconnaissance.

Four people were selected in the 2001 class by Mr. Keith Hall, NRO Director, based on recommendations from a special selection board. They were retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Donald L. Cromer, Mr. A.J. "Tony" Iorillo, Mr. Vincent S. Rose, and Mr. John Walton.

Anyone may nominate an individual to be a candidate for selection, but nominations are due to the NRO by January 31, 2002. Nominees may be living or deceased and may include anyone except former NRO directors, deputy directors and program managers as they have already been honored by the organization. Pioneers will be chosen based on the significance and lasting effect of their contributions to national reconnaissance.

Nominations must be no longer than one page, single-spaced and should identify the contribution for which the individual is being nominated. Nominations should be mailed to:
