The National Reconnaissance Office announced a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) today to investigate concepts that will enable the NRO to meet its future launch needs. Proposed research should investigate truly new and unique approaches and techniques that lead or enable revolutionalry and evolutionary improvements in capability, performance and cost.
"The BAA provides a risk tolerant environment to invest in technologies and high payoff concepts that will provide the best possible launch capabilities and relevant to the NRO's mission to revolutionize global reconnaissance," said Col. Edward "Chip" Zakrzewski, director of the NRO Office of Space Launch.
The NRO's Office of Space Launch is responsible for the Broad Agency Announcement. Proposals submitted in response to the BAA are due back to the NRO no later than January 24, 2003 with contract awards by May 2003. The period of performance for BAA proposals may be up to a maximum of one year. Contracts awarded as a result of this BAA will have a maximum price of $350,000.
