NRO Satellite Successfully Launched Aboard Delta - IV

A National Reconnaissance Office payload was successfully launched aboard a Delta-IV evolved expendable launch vehicle (EELV) from Space Launch Complex (SLC) 6 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, on June 27, 2006.

"The magnitude of this mission's success cannot be overstated. It was the first NRO launch on the Delta-IV booster, the nation's first security space mission from SLC 6, and the first EELV launch from Vandenberg AFB. Collectively it is a tribute to the team work of the entire government and industry team that made it happen," said Col James Norman, director of the NRO's Office of Space Launch and mission director for the launch.
