NROL-30 launch update

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Release #2-07
CONTACT: (703) 808-5050 Jun. 18, 2007

A National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) payload (NROL-30) was successfully launched aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) from Space Launch Complex 41, Cape Canaveral, Florida, on June 15, 2007, at 11:12 a.m. EDT. This is the first Atlas V launch of an NRO payload.

Space vehicle separation was nominal and the NRO is confident in the performance of its mission. Atlas booster performance was nominal. The Centaur upper stage had a technical anomaly which resulted in minor performance degradation. The Space and Missile Systems Center has initiated a standard review process.
