Under Secretary of the Air Force/Secretary of the Air Force, 1981-1988
Mr. Aldridge led the effort to enhance the role of expendable launch vehicles. He commissioned and led the first major study of the NRO, the Geiger-Kelly study, which recommended consolidation and collocation of the NRO elements and the functional realignment of the NRO programs. Mr. Aldridge served as both Secretary of the Air Force and NRO Director during his last three-years of service.
