Federal Employee Vaccination Requirement (January 21 Update)
To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government, to include the NRO, will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Please note that this injunction is limited to implementation and enforcement of E.O. 14043, which imposes a vaccination requirement. It has no effect on enforcement of other workplace safety protocols related to vaccination status, such as masking, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine requirements. Therefore, in accordance with recent Safer Federal Workforce Task Force, DoD and NRO guidance on enforcement of agency safety protocols based on vaccination status - including guidance on protocols related to making, distancing, travel, testing, and quarantine - the protocols for unvaccinated employees remain in full effect and will continue to be enforced.
New employees will be required to attest to their COVID-19 vaccination status at the time of Entering-on-Duty (EOD). if a new employee is not fully vaccinated, the employee will be subject to NRO's current mandatory COVID-19 safety protocols for not fully vaccinated employees, to include masking at all times (except when eating or drinking), distancing, and completing weekly screening test, as well as any future additions or changes to the protocols currently in effect.
