A System of Records Notice is a document that notifies the public about the existence and character of a system maintained by a Federal agency that contains information about individuals. SORNs must be published in the Federal Register for all operational systems. All Federal agencies, including those in the Intelligence Community, are required to publish SORNs about all unclassified SORs maintained by the agency.
