This year the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) marks its 60th anniversary. From its inception Sept. 6, 1961, NRO has leveraged its incredible intelligence collection capabilities to meet new challenges faced by the nation by continuing to develop exquisite intelligence gathering systems to protect the U.S. and its citizens. For this celebration, by way of major declassifications, articles, exhibits and recognition of NRO Pioneers, we will be focusing on the legacy of innovation and innovators that paved the way to NRO’s present and chart NRO’s future efforts.
