By Staff National Reconnaissance Office

The National Reconnaissance Office’s  Distributed Common Ground System –Intelligence Community (DCGS-IC) Team was presented the Advancement of Capabilities to Discover and Access Information Award at the second annual National Intelligence Professional Awards for Information Sharing and Safeguarding, Friday, Nov. 1, at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

“My team and I are honored to be recognized for this award,” said Air Force Capt. Michael Bentley, who accepted the award on behalf of the DCGS-IC team. “NRO is always on the cutting edge of technology, and DCGS-IC’s ground-breaking support across DoD and IC components is proof of this. The program plays a pivotal role in collaboration across the U.S. Government,”

According to the award citation, the DCGS- IC team’s ability to create and deploy data sharing services across three security domains was particularly impressive.  The DCGS-IC team also provided critical bi-directional, and cross-domain security services that enabled additional search, discovery, and transfer of critical data via a variety of unique user-generated requirements.

The NRO continues to improve data sharing by reducing the time it takes for intelligence information to reach consumers. These groundbreaking innovations showcase NRO’s outstanding service to the IC and give a glimpse of the impact they are having on the future of these communities.
