Senate Intelligence Chairman Visits NRO Workforce

By Staff

Sen. Mark Warner received a series of mission updates from across the directorates and spoke directly to the NRO workforce during a virtual town hall while visiting the NRO’s headquarters at Westfields today.

While no stranger to the people and the mission of the NRO, today’s visit is Warner’s first visit to Westfields since the Virginia senator was named chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Feb. 3.

“We are very fortunate to have Senator Warner visiting our Westfields Headquarters today,” said NRO Director, Dr. Chris Scolese, while introducing Warner. “He is an incredible supporter of the NRO and a strong advocate for improving and advancing our technologies in smallsats and using commercial space.”

In order to facilitate social distancing due to ongoing health concerns from COVID-19, today’s visit included a virtual town hall where more than 800 NRO employees from across the enterprise were able to participate online.

“One of my goals since becoming chairman of the intelligence committee is making sure all committee members are more familiar with what NRO does and our overhead capabilities,” said Warner. “I think they’re extraordinarily important and over my tenure the past 10 years on this committee these capabilities have become even more important.”

“Thank you all for what you do. You’re all patriots and what you do to protect our country is absolutely critical,” Warner said.
