CHANTILLY, Va –
Today is International Women’s Day where we celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This day has been celebrated since 1911 (which makes this year the 111th anniversary) in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. Its global reach and recognition came in 1975, the year the United Nations officially began celebrating the day. Women at NRO have helped shape and pave the way ahead; women like Dr. Susan Durham (Director of NRO’s Advanced Systems & Technology Directorate) and Maj. Gen. Donna Shipton (Deputy Director of NRO). Join NRO today by displaying the colors for this day; purple for justice and dignity, green for hope, and white for purity as we honor and celebrate all women have achieved past and present. Follow NRO on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter today and rest of the month as we highlight women’s achievements.
