Chief Master Sergeant Steve H. Ha
SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER, NRO
Chief Master Sergeant Steve Ha is the Senior Enlisted Leader, National Reconnaissance Office
(NRO), Chantilly, Virginia representing the highest level of enlisted leadership. As the Senior
Enlisted Leader of the Space Force Element, Chief Ha leads the military personnel assigned to
the NRO, and serves as the senior enlisted advisor to the Director on all enlisted matters. The
NRO is responsible to the Secretary of War and Director of National Intelligence for research,
development, acquisition, launch, and operation of overhead reconnaissance capabilities
providing the foundation for global situational awareness and responses to the nation’s toughest
intelligence challenges. Chief Ha is the principal advisor to the Director, Deputy Director and
Senior Staff on military readiness, professional development and mission effectiveness of the
organization’s joint enlisted personnel assigned at numerous locations across the globe.
Chief Ha entered the United States Air Force in 1999 from Sacramento, California. He completed
Computer Systems Operations training in September 1999 and filled various unique positions to
support the nation's defense. After 21 years of honorable service in the world's greatest Air
Force, he transferred to the United States Space Force in December 2020.
Prior to his current assignment, he was the Space Force Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary
of the Air Force for Force Management, Washington, District of Columbia. There, he provided
guidance and executed strategic plans and policies for 700,000 Air Force, Space Force, and
Department of the Air Force civilian members. Additionally, he dual-hatted as the Senior
Enlisted Leader for Concept and Technology, Task Force-Futures, guiding the organization
responsible for developing and validating future warfighting concepts to ensure US Space Force
dominance in a rapidly evolving environment.
