On June 23, NRO debuted a new, permanent Diversity & Inclusion Exhibit in the Westfields lobby. DNRO Scalese and members of the exhibit committee cut the ribbon on the display, which provides an interactive homage to the diverse contributors to NRO's mission from its earliest days.
Opening just before the kick-off for All American Family Day 2023, the exhibit honors NRO's history while representing its ongoing commitment to sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Scolese recalled early discussions during the pandemic on designing an engaging display of NRO's people-centric values. It was fitting that the exhibit began to be envisioned "at a time when we were thinking about how important it was that we take care of our people and their families;' he reflected. Located next to the cafeteria inside the Westfields main entrance, the exhibit features portraits of employees from across the organization along with the NRO logo. Visitors will also find an interactive videos, narrated biographies of NRO's trailblazers,
and workforce announcements on diversity and inclusion programming across NRO available through a touch-screen monitor. The exhibit came about through the vision and contributions of (alphabetically) BPO, COMM, CSNR, FSG, MSC,
OCPA, OE&I, and OS&CI representatives.
Diversity and inclusion make us better as an organization, Scolese said. Much more than an abstract concept, "diversity is the people that make us who we are at NRO," he added.
